(Just a suggestion: Clarinet feats below the 1st octave and above the 7th

Subject: [Menvi-discuss] Transcribing Octaves from Print to Braille

Hi, Listers!

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!

I am a TVI/O&M in San Francisco. I've been trying to provide my 6th grader
with Braille music scores for the short pieces he is assigned to learn for
his music class. He plays the clarinet. He has a very good ear and a great
memory - both of which have helped him perform well musically.

However, I feel that I'm at the point now that I will have to be providing
him with more detailed and ACCURATE music scores.

I have several books, including the BANA music code book. However, I feel I
need to quickly learn about octaves and how to show them in Braille. I'm so
busy with my TVI responsibilities, that I have little time to learn. This
student cannot afford a Braille music teacher -even if one of the rare good
ones were available here.

I'm committed to learning as much as possible about Music Braille
transcription, given my workload. I'm not trained in music -but I've been
learning...

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

-Steve
